How can whole energy system thinking help you meet your regions ambitions? Join one of our webinars

events

Cadent are a gas distribution network, but we appreciate that many of the issues faced by our stakeholders could be more effectively resolved by the gas and electricity networks working together to provide coordinated whole energy system solutions. We’d like to share with you some of the ideas we are developing with our energy network colleagues, to see if you think they can help you, and if there are any other priority areas you’d like us to consider.

The webinars will take place on

Monday 3rd June 14:00
and
Thursday 6th June 10:00

We are considering a range of options, including quick wins and longer term process changes. To give you a flavour of how this could help you, examples include:
  • coordinated information requests, so we avoid multiple networks all asking for similar information such as energy and growth plans at difference times
  • providing greater information transparency to support your strategic decisions
  • Whole system optioneering – by looking across all the energy networks, can we provide better solutions to meet your longer term development objectives. From future proofing and decarbonisation to clean air and low emission transport, we believe whole system thinking can unlock new options. For example, a green gas powered district heating CHP scheme could offer benefits above building new incremental network capacity.
As these are a ongoing series of webinars, we’d also like your suggestions on topics for future sessions.

Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy.  We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change.  Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency.   Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

Future of Gas: Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
