Proud to keep the energy flowing

There are some things in life you just need to work, without thinking about it, without any hassle.

Underneath your feet runs 200 years of innovation; a pipe network connecting 11 million homes and businesses, an invisible commitment to meet your energy needs, today and tomorrow.

Cadent also manages the national gas emergency service free phone line on behalf of the gas industry - 0800 111 999*.

What we do

We own and manage four of the eight gas distribution networks in the UK: West Midlands, North West England, East of England, North London

  • We connect, disconnect and alter gas connections for homes and businesses
  • We help renewable energy producers connect to our network
  • We partner up with Utility Infrastructure Providers (UIPs) and Independent Gas Transporters (IGTs) to ensure a smooth gas distribution across our network
  • We run emergency operations on our network when a rare unexpected incident happens
  • We maintain and repair gas pipes in our network

What we don't do

  • We don’t produce gas
  • We don’t own the gas that flows through our pipes, we only transport the gas through our pipeline networks
  • We don’t repair gas appliances
  • We don’t send out gas bills
  • You do not pay your gas bill to us
