- Cadent resources at the ready to deal with any gas related emergencies during Royal Wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank
- Cadent liaised with local authorities and Royal officials to plan for the big day
- Planning its essential work to fit in around major public events and people’s daily lives is part of Cadent’s DNA
Cadent found itself being a wedding planner for the second time this year as Windsor played host to 2018’s second Royal Wedding.
On Friday (October 12) Princess Eugenie, ninth in line to the British throne, married Jack Brooksbank at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Guests at the fairy-tale event included the Queen, Prince Philip and other members of the Royal Family along with celebrities such as Robbie Williams, Stephen Fry, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.
Amongst those working behind the scenes to ensure the event went smoothly were Britain’s largest gas distribution network Cadent.
Windsor is part of Cadent’s North London gas distribution network and prior to the wedding Cadent engineers and support staff were hard at work ensuring the local gas network was ready for the big day.
Gas mains in the vicinity of Windsor Castle and other locations associated with the Royal Wedding such as the carriage route were checked in advance of the event and a rapid reaction team were on ready to spring into action and deal with any gas emergencies on the big day.
This is the second time this year that Cadent Performance and Assurance Manager Bryan Furness, has had to prepare for a Royal Wedding, having previously oversee Cadent’s preparations for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in May.
Cadent’s very own wedding planner, commented: “Planning a Royal Wedding is a massive undertaking and Cadent has its part to play in this.”
He explained: “Prior to the wedding assessments were made to the local gas network and discussions were held with Windsor Castle and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
“We put together contingency plans and had appropriate resources in place to ensure our engineers could deal with any suspected gas escapes as soon as possible.”
Dealing with two Royal Weddings in one year may seem extraordinary but in many ways its business as usual for Cadent.
Mr Furness explained: “As Britain’s biggest gas distribution network Cadent is about and about 24-7, 365 days a year helping to ensure that people stay connected to safe and reliable gas supplies.
“Working around major public events and smaller local events such as Christmas light-switch-ons and local festivals is very much part of our DNA. We’re committed to ensuring our network keeps on delivering safe and reliable gas to all of the public who we serve and making sure our network has as little impact as possible on their lives.”
