Little Chalfont, Buckinghamshire - updating the gas pipes

We are replacing almost one kilometre of gas pipes along White Lion Road, Little Chalfont from 28th July 2025. The project will take for 13 weeks to complete, managed with temporary three and four-way traffic lights.

The work is being completed to ensure residents can continue to depend on a safe and reliable gas supply for many more decades to come.

The gas pipe, which was originally laid in the 1960s is showing signs of its age and we have carried out a number of urgent repairs over the past years.

Upgrading the pipeline to tough, durable, long-lasting plastic means an end to that unplanned, disruptive work and just as importantly, keeps you safe, warm and connected for cooking, heating and hot water.

The work will start on White Lion Road on 28th July 2025 at the junction of Chalfont Station Road and Burtons Lane, finishing at the junction with Bell Lane and Finch Lane.

The work site will start at the junction of Chalfont Station Road and Burtons Lane.

There will be a road closure at the junction of Burtons Lane layby outside the shops with parking restrictions.

As works move along White Lion Road, there will be rolling traffic lights until the junction of Bell Lane and Finch Lane, where temporary four-way traffic lights will replace the existing lights whilst works are completed.

Please note the pavement will be closed from Bell Lane to approximately St Nicholas Close. (The same side as the school, the opposite pavement will be open). Alternative routes will be provided.

N.B. Weight restriction on Cokes Lane for heavy goods vehicles.

Our engineering teams will be on site seven days a week. Monday to Friday laying the new pipe and at the weekend filling in the holes.

The traffic lights will be manually operated by a dedicated team on-site 7am-7pm, seven days a week and will make any necessary adjustments to keep traffic flowing and be readily available to assist emergency services.
