Motorists are being reminded that major work will soon be starting which will affect a section of one of East Anglia’s major routes, the A12.
Early next month (April 2017) engineers will begin essential investigation and remediation work on a section of gas pipeline. This important work will help ensure the region keeps on enjoying safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating.
The gas pipeline where the engineers will be working is located close to the slip road and due to the high speed of traffic leaving the A12 the following closures must be implemented so work can be carried out safely and efficiently.
The following diversion will be in place for the duration of the project:
Traffic leave A12 at junction 30 (Stratford St Mary) and follow diversion via Upper Street, The Street, Lower Street and Gun Hill.
Karl Shipp, Network Supervisor Gas Pipelines, East Anglia, National Grid Gas Distribution, said: After months of planning we’ll soon be starting our work on site.
To ensure our engineers can work safely we need to close the slip road. To set up and then remove the slip road closure we also need to implement two overnight closures of the nearside northbound carriageway.
He added: This project has been planned in close discussion with the local authorities and we’re doing all we can to minimise any disruption to the public, such as carrying out the A12 closures at quiet overnight periods.
Our essential work will help ensure local people keep on enjoying safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating.
