Cadent, which manages the gas network across the West Midlands, is proud to announce that it has successfully raised £40,000 in support of the Foleshill Community Centre in Coventry.
The mammoth fundraising effort was completed in under a week in collaboration with its partners. With nearly 2500 residents using the Foleshill Community Centre every year, the funding boost will go towards important upgrades to the facility including urgent building repairs, further supporting its ability to serve the local community,
This isn’t the first time Cadent has partnered with the community centre, as it is currently home to one its ‘Centres for Warmth’ projects. With over 50 Centres for Warmth across England in areas of high deprivation and within communities that could be at risk of fuel poverty and carbon monoxide poisoning, the initiative aims to support people living in vulnerable situations, keeping them warm, safe and connected.
Network Director for Cadent in the West Midlands, Elliott Nelson, said: "Cadent is deeply committed to the communities we operate in. We believe in the importance of supporting local initiatives that empower and strengthen neighbourhoods. Our partnership with the Foleshill Community Centre is a testament to this. We are delighted to contribute £40,000 to this vital project, which will undoubtedly make a positive impact on the lives of residents in Coventry."
The CEO of Foleshill Community Centre, Helen Needham, extended her thanks to Cadent for the donation, adding: “We are incredibly grateful to Cadent for its substantial contribution to our centre. This funding will enable us to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for the people of Foleshill. It is partnerships like these that truly drive positive change and enhance the quality of life for our community."
Last week, West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street, visited the community centre to see the great working taking place between Cadent and the Foleshill team: “It was great to visit Foleshill and see the work taking place in partnership with Cadent. This is a wonderful example of how businesses and communities can work together to create a greener and brighter future for local people in the months and years ahead.”
