Local residents are being invited to attend a public exhibition to find out more about essential work to replace ageing gas mains in Kensal Rise.
Cadent has drawn up plans to replace a stretch of ageing gas mains in Chamberlayne Road between Banister Road and Wrentham Avenue.
Work is scheduled to start on Monday 7 May planned for completion by Saturday 18 August, ahead of the Notting Hill Carnival. To enable the work be carried out safely Chamberlayne Road will need to be closed to northbound traffic between Banister Road (Kilburn Lane - B413) and Wrentham Avenue during the project.
A diversion will be in place via Banister Road, Kilburn Lane, Brondesbury Park and Sidmouth Road.
Throughout the work, all shops and businesses will be open as usual and Cadent will do all it can to deliver the work with as little disruption as possible.
People are invited to attend a public exhibition where they can find out more about the work and meet the project team on Saturday 21 April from 10am to 3pm. Cadent will have a stand on Chamberlayne Road between the junction with Chevening Road and the railway line, near Minkies Deli.
Cadent Authorising Engineer Robert Benn said: “We’re working closely with the London Borough of Brent to ensure we minimise any inconvenience to people who work, live or travel through the area during the project.
“Our work will help ensure local people remain connected to safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating and it will also cut the number of disruptive unplanned repair jobs required on ageing gas mains.”
Mr Benn added: “I’d encourage anyone with questions about the work to come and meet us at the public exhibition or alternatively they can contact our Community Relations Team on 0800 389 8261 or
info@communityrelations.co.uk.”
