Here at Cadent, we work hard to be an inclusive employer. Our Grief Awareness Community is one of seven employee-led community groups. These help us to develop understanding of cultures, backgrounds, abilities / disabilities, and many other diversities within our workforce that make us who we are, and are proud to be.

For Grief Awareness Week 2024 (2 to 8 December), we have produced a special Cadent podcast series. Three episodes – all available here on this page.

Grief is a deeply personal experience, yet it’s something that connects us all. Over the three episodes, our Cadent colleagues explore the complex and often misunderstood journey of grief; sharing real stories of loss, heartbreak, and healing.

Each episode focuses on different aspects of grief — sparked by real-life stories shared by people at Cadent. These stories, shared anonymously by people who have lived through loss, offer a window into the raw and powerful emotions that grief can evoke.

Grief is not something we need to face alone. You can find advice and access support on the National Bereavement Service website

Alongside these stories, we are joined by experts from the National Bereavement Service and members of Cadent’s Grief Awareness Community, who offer insights, support, and guidance for navigating grief.

Listen, learn, and share in this important conversation during Grief Awareness Week.

With thanks to our friends at Skewb for helping us make these podcasts.

    Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy.  We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change.  Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency.   Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

    Future of Gas:

Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
