    Motorists in Suffolk are being warned of two nights of road closures as Cadent, which manages the local gas distribution network, is carrying out essential works to make sure there is a safe and reliable network in the local area.

    Cadent announced last month that it was beginning a large project to replace almost half a mile of pipework that runs under the A12, Grove Road, in Woodbridge.

    As a result, the following temporary road management had been put in place:

    • Narrowing of the A12 between Monday 13th November and Friday 22nd December allowing two-way traffic;
    • Two-night closure of A12 approaching the roundabout close to Dobbies Garden Centre on 11th and 12th December;
    • Closure of righthand lane of the southbound A12 carriage way between 11th and 22nd December
    • Closure of pathway on roundabout close to Dobbies Garden Centre between 11th and 22nd December

    Two additional emergency closures have also been announced:

    • Wednesday 13th December from 8pm until 6am - Southbound closure of the A12 Grove Road, Woodbridge, at junction of the B1079 (close to the roundabout near Dobbies Garden Centre)
    • Saturday 16th December from 8pm until 6am – Full closure of the A12 Grove Road, Woodbridge.

    When road closures are in place, Cadent have worked with the local council to arrange diversion routes which will be set up to ensure that traffic continues to flow.

    We would like to thank customers in advance for their patience and we apologise for any inconvenience experienced as we complete this important work.

    Despite the large project taking place, we plan for the gas supply to remain uninterrupted to homes and businesses in the area.

    Cadent

    Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy. We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change. Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency. Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

    Future of Gas:

    Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
