The Energy Diaries
2022
For the past three years, we’ve followed the real-life experiences of consumers, exploring their feelings about energy amidst the cost of living crisis and the ongoing push for sustainability.
This year, in collaboration with Thinks Insight, our 2024 research ‘Energy Diaries: Voices of the future’ shines a spotlight on young people aged 18-30, uncovering their perspectives on energy.
Key Findings:
Traditionally, fuel poverty concerns have focused on pensioners and the elderly. However, our findings reveal growing fears about its impact on young people’s views on energy, their disconnection from the industry, and their understanding of fuel poverty.
Mark Belmega, Director of Sustainability and Social Purpose at Cadent, emphasised:
“Not everyone shows their vulnerability, but as fuel poverty affects millions, especially in winter, we ensure support — from financial advice to in-home energy efficiency measures — is available for those in need. The stories in our report highlight the critical situation for young people, often overlooked in discussions about energy anxiety and fuel poverty. At Cadent, we strive to provide support for all, including those aged 18-30, because fuel poverty does not discriminate by age.”
