New gas connection requires temporary road closure on Shrewsbury Road.

Cadent is advising residents and road users in Craven Arms of a temporary road closure on the A49 Shrewsbury Road to allow engineers to safely install a new gas connection.

The work will take place outside Shrewsbury Road on Sunday 18 October and is expected to be completed within one day.

To carry out the work safely, a 24-hour road closure will be in place from 6am on Sunday 18 October until 6am on Monday 19 October. The closure is required to enable engineers to install the new gas service connection safely and efficiently.

A signed diversion route will be in place via the A49, A5, A458 and B4368, and vice versa. Our teams will remain on site throughout the day to manage local access and minimise disruption wherever possible.

Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained wherever possible during the work, although people travelling through the area may experience some delays.

A Cadent spokesperson said: This work is needed to install a new gas connection and ensure the property can be safely connected to the gas network.

For the safety of our engineers, local residents and road users, a temporary road closure will be required while the work is carried out.

We appreciate this may cause some inconvenience and would like to thank residents and motorists for their patience while we complete this essential work as quickly and safely as possible.

Customers with any questions can contact the Cadent Customer Service team on 0800 389 8000 between 8am – 8pm.

    Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy. We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change. Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency. Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

    Future of Gas:

Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
