Gas pipes in Lavengro Road and Gertrude Road, Norwich, are to be upgraded to new, durable plastic pipes which will future-proof the network for decades to come.
Cadent is set to replace 400 metres of ageing gas pipes helping to keep local homes and businesses connected to safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating.
The project is part of Cadent’s ongoing investment to upgrade older gas mains across the East of England, replacing ageing pipes with modern plastic ones that are more durable and ready for the future.
Following consultation with Norfolk County Council, Cadent has agreed to carry out these essential gas works from Monday 27 July. The project is expected to last four weeks, with work due to finish by Friday 21 August.
Due to the location of the gas pipes, engineers will need to work in the road and footway. Traffic management arrangements will include the closure of Gertrude Road, with the footway also closed to keep pedestrians, road users and engineers safe.
All traffic management arrangements have been agreed with the local highways authority, with signed diversion routes put in place where necessary.
Gas supplies will remain ON for the duration of the work wherever possible. In some cases, Cadent engineers may need to alter gas services connected to the pipes being replaced. If this is required, affected customers will be contacted in advance and given more information about what this means for them.
