Menopause: We’re proud to be continuing the conversation

corporate

Whether at home, at work, in the media and in parliament, the menopause and the impact it has on women is increasingly being discussed. For World Menopause Day, and beyond, we are proud to be continuing that conversation and showcasing the support for women in cadent.

Cadent is proud to have worked with the British Menopause Society and ITN Business to produce a news-style programme ‘Menopause: Continuing the Conversation’, to raise awareness of the menopause.

The Women in Cadent Menopause Support group has been working hard to create change to support women to be as effective in the workplace and their personal life as possible. The news-style programme highlights the important changes in policies and procedures, people manager training and guidance, and changes to the personal protective equipment and clothing and much more available to women working at Cadent.

Women in Cadent’s Menopause sub-group lead, Lucy Stuart has been the driving force behind these changes, herself a national finalist in the Friendly Employer 2022 awards for her work.

Lucy is proud of the changes which have taken place within Cadent, she said: “Through policy changes, education and conversation, we’re working to create an open environment which champions the menopause and women’s health issues, supporting women to be their best selves while they’re working.

“I’m proud that we’ve been able to create a positive support network for women, and men within Cadent, and are continuing to drive forward supportive changes.”

Hosted by Louise Minchin, the programme features interviews with people from across Cadent, including Director of Engineering, Hilary Buxton, David Moon, Director of Asset Investment, and Women in Cadent Sponsor, Lucy Stuart, Risk and Assurance Manager and Vicky Watson Forman, a mature female apprentice.

Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy.  We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change.  Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency.   Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

Future of Gas: Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
