We scoop three awards in National Fertility Awareness Week

    11 November 2025

On National Fertility Awareness Week 2025, we were proud to win two awards and a highly commended at the first Fertility Friendly Employer Awards with Fertility Matters at Work.

    • Fertility Ally/Champion Award – Liz Brand, Cadent – recognising Liz’s incredible advocacy and personal commitment to creating a more inclusive workplace.
    • Employee Resource Group of the Year – Fertility Matters at Cadent (FMAC) – celebrating our internal network’s role in driving awareness, peer support, and cultural change.
    • Highly Commended: Fertility Friendly Employer of the Year – Cadent – acknowledging our inclusive policies, clear support pathways, and commitment to psychological safety for all paths to parenthood.

This acknowledged the meaningful progress we’ve made to support colleagues navigating fertility challenges.

As the first UK utility company accredited by Fertility Matters at Work, we launched a dedicated Fertility Policy in 2022, shaped by the lived experiences of our people. This includes:

    • Unlimited paid time off for fertility treatment and related appointments.
    • Training and support for managers to confidently support their teams.
    • Awareness sessions for all colleagues to foster understanding and empathy.

Our aim is to build a workplace culture where fertility is understood, supported, and openly discussed.

During this week, MP Alice Macdonald shared powerful insights on the importance of fertility policies, and the need for broader change across industries, to ensure equal opportunities for those undergoing treatment.

We’re also excited to introduce Fertifa, a new health benefit offering confidential, inclusive support across reproductive health, fertility, menopause, men’s health and more - ensuring our colleagues have access to expert care when they need it most.

We’re proud of the journey so far—and even more excited about what’s ahead.

    Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy. We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change. Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency. Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

    Future of Gas:

Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
