Gas Safety: Key Information

    Smell gas in your home?

    1. Open doors and windows to ventilate the property
    2. Switch off your Gas Emergency Control Valve (located next to your gas meter) unless it is located in a basement or cellar then do not attend it
    3. Call the Gas Emergency Service on: 0800 111 999

    Do not:

    • Turn any power or light switches on or off.
    • Light any sort of flame within the property.
    • Use any appliances that could cause a spark.

    Smell gas in the street?

    1. Call the Gas Emergency Service on: 0800 111 999
    2. Move away from the area

    DO NOT LIGHT ANY NAKED FLAMES OF ANY SORT

    Gas meter issues?

    Call your gas supplier. Their number can be found at the top of your energy bill. If you have an annual care plan with your gas supplier, they will fix any problems you might have with your gas appliances and pipework. Unsure of your supplier? Find out via the 'Find my supplier' online tool.

    Gas appliance and boiler issues?

    Call the Gas Safe Register on 0800 408 5500 or  visit their website to find a Gas Safe Registered engineer to attend to the issue.

    Power cut?

    Call 105.
