As a single mother of five children, who is also battling stage 4 cancer, Kenisha was suffering with ill health and stress - and her bills and poor finances were only adding to that. Supporting her family was critical to their daily lives and general wellbeing.
Act on Energy were able to offer items from our Cadent Foundation Winter Support Fund to keep the family warmer at home without adding to their energy use. They also offered advice on energy tariffs, assistance with re-housing because their social housing was unsafe, as well as emotional support for her cancer diagnosis.
The Act on Energy advisor was also able to get Kenisha’s council tax reduced and improve her benefits by £300 per month, including a backdated payment of £3,000.
With all this financial and emotional support Kenisha feels much happier and less stressed and more in control of her money. Its enabled her to manage her life better and focus on her health and children, rather than worrying about affording her bills and keeping her home warm.
