▪ Work will keep gas flowing for the rest of the century
▪ Temporary traffic lights needed to safeguard staff and road-users
Saturday (22 October) will signal the start of a vital gas mains upgrade in Stockport’s Bramhall Lane South. The work will keep homes and businesses warm both this winter and for decades to come.
National Grid will be renewing gas mains in Bramhall Lane South, at the junction with Carrwood Road. It is expected to be completed by 31 October and will see the existing iron gas mains replaced with tough new plastic pipes that will last for at least 80 years once they are in the ground.
To safeguard engineers and road-users, temporary traffic lights will be needed at the junction of Bramhall Lane South and Carrwood Road while the work is underway.
Stephen Murray, Head of Contract, said: “National Grid plays a vital role in keeping people warm. This essential work will mean that local residents and businesses can continue to enjoy a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
“We appreciate that this is a busy junction so we’d urge drivers to bear with us. We’ll do all we can to complete this work as soon as possible. We really appreciate people’s patience and co-operation.”
