Cadent has been awarded Disability Confident status for the second time, by the Department of Work and Pensions, as part of the UK Government's Disability Confident scheme.
The disability confident status recognises the way Cadent works to be a welcoming employer of choice for people with disabilities, and the reasonable adjustments to enable colleagues with disabilities to achieve their potential throughout their career with us.
Sam Willis, Co-Chair of Thrive! - our employee-led community in this area - said: “As someone who lives with disabilities myself, it is essential that we promote disability confidence as an organisation.
"It helps to make our people feel seen, valued, and respected.
"Disability confidence also impacts our stakeholders, customers, and end users – it’s not a nice-to-have, it’s critical if we want to be the leading gas transportation company in the UK.
"I am proud of the culture we are nurturing at Cadent and the huge strides we are making to continuously challenge ourselves. Open conversations, knowledge, and cultural acceptance about an individual’s unique qualities all help us to see the ability and not the barriers that come with focusing on disability.
"I’m so proud of the work that all of the Thrive! team has done over the last 18 months from refining processes, creating support structures, and providing a platform for role models and mentors to continue to push the boundaries of what is possible and shatter glass ceilings.
"Having team members who are open and celebrate their unique abilities is important to Thrive!, our staff community representing colleagues with visible and unseen disabilities.

Dan Forth, People Director, MyPeopleServices, Cadent, said: “We are proud to have once again been awarded Disability Confident status, recognising the work we have done over the last three years, and the commitment we’ve made to keep the momentum going over the coming three years.
"Cadent is proud to champion inclusion in the workplace when it comes to individuals with disabilities of all kinds. We believe that as a business when it comes to inclusion, we must go that extra mile and provide a workplace that is accessible to all, and supports people to have the career path they want within Cadent.”
Disability Confident aims to create a movement of change by encouraging employers to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit, retain, and develop disabled people.
