All night long: Lane closure westbound A406 Brent

in your area

Cadent engineers will  be carrying out work to repair a suspected gas escape this evening (Wednesday 18 September).

Engineers are scheduled to work through the night from 8pm this evening (Wednesday 18 September) to fix the leak which is believed to be coming from a gas main located in The Circle, Brent.

To enable the work to be carried out safely engineers will need to close a 200m stretch of the inside westbound lane of the A406 running up to the first junction with The Circle, from 8pm this evening.

Engineers will do all they can to locate the leak and complete repairs as soon as possible, once this has been done any excavations that have been dug will need to be filled in and reinstated by Cadent subcontractors.

Access in and out of The Circle will be maintained via the second turning into The Circle.

The work needs to be done to help ensure local people keep on enjoying safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating.

Cadent is doing all it can to minimise disruption while carrying out the necessary work including working during off-peak hours when roads are quieter.

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy.  We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change.  Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency.   Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

Future of Gas: Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
