When: 10am – 4pm, Friday 15 November
Where: National Grid Hinckley Operations Centre, Brick Kiln Street, Hinckley, LE10 0NA.
National Grid staff in Hinckley will be donning their pyjamas this Friday (15 November) and powering up for a day of Pudsey make-overs, 'pick your victim' leg waxing and fundraising kids' party-style - all in aid of BBC Children In Need.
Pyjamas and slippers will be the order of the day as employees at the gas company's Hinckley Operations Centre plan a host of fundraising activities for disadvantaged youngsters. Staff are set to sport their own spotty bandana, courtesy of face-painting Pudsey-style, while Henna painting, raffles and a cake sale are set to raise a heap of dough.
It's 'hair today, gone tomorrow' for Matthew Whale, Billy Ward, Ashley Smith and David Hardy as the foursome volunteer for the 'pick a victim' leg waxing. At £1 a waxing strip, colleagues get to choose which of the 'plucky' quartet will be saying farewell to their follicles.
A trip down memory lane is set to swell the coffers for present day youngsters in need with a kids' party-themed fundraiser. Sausages on a stick, pin the bandana on the Pudsey, guess the sweeties in the jar and a sponsored silence will add to Pudsey's stash of cash.
Fitness fans have been getting in on the action too, clocking up miles for smiles. By Friday, they aim to have notched up a whopping 750 miles on the treadmill for Pudsey's 'run a mile to make a child smile'.
Meanwhile colleagues have been vying to complete the Top Gear Challenge, pounding running, cycling and rowing machines to cover the 87.2 miles to Elstree Studios where the popular BBC TV motoring show is filmed.
Sally Clay, Communications and Engagement Manager, said: 'National Grid is a staunch supporter of BBC Children In Need and this year our staff are planning a fantastic day of fundraising to help disadvantaged youngsters. With the difficult financial situation in recent years, charities need our support more than ever before and we are happy to help such a worthwhile cause.'
