  • Closure expected to be in place for a minimum of three weeks
  • Work will replace leaking old gas main with tough new pipe and cut future disruption
Motorists are being advised of a road closure in Hounslow as Cadent engineers deal work to cut disruption by replacing a leak prone old gas main with a tough new pipe.
Hanworth Road will be closed, between the junctions with Wellington Road South and Bell Road, from midnight tonight (Wednesday 6 March).
The closure will be in place for at least three weeks and a signed diversion in place via Wellington Road South, Staines Road/Roman Road and Bell Road.  Access will be maintained for occupants of the road and local shops, businesses and facilities will remain open as normal.
Engineers are replacing a leak prone stretch of ageing gas main, which has caused repeated disruption recently. A tough new pipe which should last until the dawn of the 22nd century will replace the leak prone pipe reducing future disruption.
This work must be done to help ensure the local community keep on enjoying safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating.
Local gas supplies are not expected to be interrupted during the work and engineers will be working extended hours to get the job completed as soon as possible.

Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy.  We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change.  Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency.   Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

Future of Gas: Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
