in your area

  • Local gas mains network being upgraded in Royston this summer
  • Multi-direction traffic signals will be required to enable work to take place
  • Projects will help ensure local community keeps on enjoying safe and reliable gas supplies until the 22nd century

This summer Cadent will be upgrading the local gas mains network in Royston to help
ensure local residents keep on enjoying safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and
    heating.

The project in Baldock Road is due to start on Monday 27 July and it is planned to complete work on Tuesday 25 August 2020.

To enable the work to be carried out safely and efficiently its planned to deploy multiway traffic signals from the junctions with Downlands and Baldock Road through to the junctions of Copperfields and Baldock Road that could result in a delay, so please consider this when travelling.

The gas supply to residents should not be affected during the works and local shops and businesses will remain open as usual.

Dilbir Chana, Cadent Authorising Engineer, said: “This project will help ensure local residents keep on enjoying safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating.

“We’ve carefully designed the project to ensure its delivered as promptly as possible and we’re doing all we can to minimise inconvenience.”

Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy.  We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change.  Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency.   Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

Future of Gas: Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
