Cadent has announced a major new partnership with the UK’s largest plant equipment company, A-Plant which includes £1.5m of investment in new kit.

From this month A-Plant has begun a new long-term partnership with Britain’s largest gas distribution network, Cadent, to provide plant and equipment hire including mechanised plant, welfare accommodation, fencing and barriers, access equipment and generators.

The equipment will be mainly used by Cadent’s repair teams though the equipment will also be accessible to all of Cadent’s operational teams.

In a commitment to Cadent, A-Plant has invested £1.5m in new machinery as part of the deal. This has included commissioning an entire production line at manufacturer JCB, speeding up delivery times of brand new mini excavators and trailers to Cadent teams.

Cadent Chief Operating Officer, Howard Forster said: “I’d like to thank all of our colleagues involved in the procurement process which has led to this point.

“Our new relationship with A-Plant will help us to raise the bar in terms of our operational management, safety and utilisation as we start to realise some early time and cost efficiencies which is a great result.”

Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy.  We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change.  Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency.   Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

Future of Gas: Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
