Keeping the gas flowing in Chesterfield

in your area

Vital work to keep the gas flowing in Chesterfield is due to start on Monday 10 May for approximately 14 weeks.

Local gas network Cadent will be replacing old iron pipes with tough new plastic ones that will last at least 80 years. The work will mean residents and businesses can continue to enjoy safe and reliable gas supplies to heat their homes and power their businesses for decades to come.

Road closures and temporary traffic lights will be needed to keep engineers, residents and motorists safe while the work is under way.

The impacted roads are:
  • Chesterfield Road
  • Ringwood Road
  • Devon Drive
  • John Street
  • Coronation Road
  • Station Road
Devon Drive junction of Ringwood Road & Coronation Road between the junctions of John Street and Station Road.

In order to complete our work safely it will be necessary to have temporary traffic signals throughout the works alongside road closures at the following junctions:

This work will be completed in multiple phases throughout the 14-week period and diversion routes will be clearly signposted.

Cadent’s customer services team will keep local people updated as the project progresses. If anyone has any enquiries about this work they should contact Cadent’s customer services team 0161 703 1000.

Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy.  We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change.  Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency.   Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

Future of Gas: Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
