Bonus for good causes: Cadent staff donate rewards to local good causes

helping our community

  • Cadent staff have used team performance payments to support local charities
  • Over £40,000 has been donated by staff to support 16 local charities in the East Midlands and East Anglia area
  • Hospitals and hospices among the beneficiaries of the payments from the East Network’s Customer Incentive Scheme which rewarded great customer service

Cadent staff have donated over £40,000 of bonus payments to support local good causes across its East of England network.

A total of 16 charities across the East Network were the beneficiaries after Cadent employees decided to donate payments from a Customer Incentive Scheme run by the network. The six month scheme gave team’s bonus payments if they got consistently high customer satisfaction scores, with the intention being that teams could use the money for morale boosting team building activities.

However, the hardworking teams decided to selflessly donate over £40,000 of the money to help 16 local charities across East Anglia and the East Midlands.

Amber Greensmith, Customer Experience Manager, headed up this scheme and was delighted with the results both for customers and local charities.

She said: “On a daily basis I see the drive from our teams to deliver an exceptional service to our customers and this very generous and selfless gesture proves to me even more what a great team we have in the East network”.

Meanwhile Darren Elsom, Director of East Network, commented: “I’m very proud of our team’s response. This demonstrates not only how committed they are in delighting our customers every day, but their willingness to give back into our communities and support some well-deserved causes.”

The donations have come at a tough time for charities as Cadent Social Responsibility Specialist, Laura Barnes, explained: “It’s estimated that the charity sector will lose over £4billion pounds in revenue during Covid-19 so the efforts of those who are donating their incentives will really help local charities during these uncertain times.”

Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy.  We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change.  Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency.   Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

Future of Gas: Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
