Complex repairs: Motorists warned to allow extra time for journey between Norwich and Aylsham

Essential work to repair a gas main in Hevingham, Norfolk is to continue. This work followers a gas escape beneath the A140 Cromer Road in Hevingham between Norwich and Aylsham. Excavation work will be needed in preparation for a new gas pipe, which once replaced will last for at  least 80 years.  
 
Traffic flows are being managed by multi direction temporary traffic lights at the junction of Cromer Road and The Street and motorists travelling along the route area advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
 
Cadent is sorry for any inconvenience people may experience and everything is being done to ensure the work is completed as soon as possible.

The work needs to be carried to out to help ensure local residents keep on enjoying safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating.

Update 9 April 2021:Due to unforseen delays on site, full reinstatement of the road has been moved until the end of next week (w/c 12 April).  One set of 2 way traffic lights at the north of the junciton to ensure final works can be safely completed will remain until then. 

We have agrred with the Highways Agency to complete the remaining work by the end of next week, and will provide a further update to this page early next week.
