Engineers are preparing to deliver a major project in Hounslow which will help ensure
local residents stay connected to safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating.

Britain’s largest gas distribution network, Cadent, will be working with contractor Squire
Energy, to deliver the upgrade to local gas mains in Fair Street, High Street and Holloway
    Street.

The work is scheduled to take place from Monday 13 January to Friday 20 March
2020. To enable work to be carried out safely road closures will be in place in Fair
Street and High Street for the duration of the project. There will be access
restrictions and some bus service diversions.

Locals can find out more about the project by visiting a pop-up stand which will be
in High Street on Monday 6 January from 10am to 4pm.

Local shops and businesses will remain open as usual throughout the work and gas
    supplies should not be interrupted.

Matt Marshall, Cadent Senior Design Analyst, said: “Upgrading the local gas network will help ensure the local community continue to enjoy safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating into the future.

“Cadent has carefully planned the work and worked closely with the local authorities to ensure the project is delivered with minimal disruption.”

He added: “I’d encourage anyone who wants to know more about the project to come along to the pop-up stand on Monday 6 January.”

Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy.  We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change.  Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency.   Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

Future of Gas: Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
