  • Friary Road to be closed at junction with A40 Western Avenue over August Bank Holiday
  • Engineers will be working around the clock to complete the work as soon as possible
Road users are being advised of a slip road closure in Ealing which is scheduled to take place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.

Cadent is carrying out essential work in Ealing to replace ageing gas mains with tough new pipes which should last until the dawn of the 22nd century.

The work will help ensure local people keep on enjoying safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating and will also reduce the disruption caused by leaks from ageing gas pipes.

To enable work to be carried out safely and efficiently Friary Road will need to be temporarily closed at the junction of the A40 Western Avenue.

The closure is scheduled to be implemented from 8pm on the evening of Friday 23 August. Engineers will be working overnight to ensure the job is completed as promptly as possible.

Signed diversions will be in place via Rosebank Way, York Road and Leamington Park.

Currently it is planned to complete the work on Sunday 25 August with the road re-opening after reinstatement work has been completed.

Work has been planned in close discussion with the London Borough of Ealing and it has been scheduled for the school summer holiday period, when roads are generally quieter, to reduce disruption.

This work is part of Cadent’s ongoing investment across its network to replace and upgrade old gas mains with safer and more durable modern pipes.

Future of Gas: Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
