The community are being invited to attend a public exhibition to find out more about essential work to replace ageing gas mains in Camden High Street.

Between June and December 2018 engineers will be replacing ageing metal gas mains with strong new pipes. This work will help ensure local people continue to enjoy safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating.

To ensure engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, traffic management will be needed. We will be working on Camden High Street between the junctions of Jamestown Road and Hawley Crescent down to Mornington Crescent.

People are invited to come and find out more about the work and meet the project team at a public exhibition at the Pirate Castle, 33 Oval Road, Camden Town, NW1 7EA on Tuesday 24 April 2018 between 4pm and 8pm.

Throughout the work, all shops and businesses will be open as usual.

Cadent is working closely with the London Borough of Camden to minimise the inconvenience to people who work, live or travel through the area.

Cadent Authorising Engineer Robert Benn said: “We’re working closely with the London Borough of Camden to ensure we deliver this essential work with as little disruption as possible.”
“The project will deliver a real benefit to the local community by ensuring safe and reliable gas supplies are maintained to the area and also reducing the number of disruptive unplanned repair jobs required on ageing gas mains.”

He added: “I’d encourage people with questions about the work to come and meet us at the public exhibition. You can also contact our Community Relations Team by phone or email.”

The project’s Community Relations Team can be contacted on 0800 389 8261 or info@communityrelations.co.uk for more information. For 24-hour operational enquiries people should call 0800 096 5678.

This work is part of Cadent’s ongoing investment across its network to replace and upgrade old gas mains with safer and more durable modern pipes.

Cadent

Cadent is the UK’s largest gas distribution network with a 200-year legacy.  We are in a unique position to build on strong foundations whilst encouraging the curiosity to think differently and the courage to embrace change.  Day to day we continue to operate, maintain and innovate the UK’s largest gas network, transporting gas safely and protecting people in an emergency.   Our skilled engineers and specialists remain committed to the communities we serve, working day and night to ensure gas reaches 11 million homes from Cumbria to North London and the Welsh Borders to East Anglia, to keep your energy flowing.

Future of Gas: Here at Cadent we support the Government’s plans to reach Net Zero by 2050. That means we’re backing the introduction of hydrogen as a low carbon alternative to natural gas for the future. We know people love the controllability of gas and, with our network already in place, it makes sense to switch to the lower carbon alternative offered by hydrogen, which we believe can keep homes and businesses warm for generations to come.
