▪ Residents invited to find out more at information event to be held on 23 August
▪ Work will help ensure local people keep on enjoying safe and reliable gas supplies for cooking and heating
National Grid is inviting residents and businesses in Flitwick to a public drop-in event next week to find out more about a gas mains upgrade in the town that will help secure supplies for decades to come.
The event is being held on Tuesday 23 August, from 4pm to 7pm at The Sacred Heart Church, Pope Close, Flitwick, MK45 1JP.
National Grid will be replacing more than 300 metres of gas pipes in Hornes End Road. The existing iron mains will be replaced with new long-lasting plastic pipes that have a lifespan of 80 years if left undisturbed in the ground.
The work is due to begin in September and will take approximately four weeks to complete.
National Grid Authorising Engineer Dilbir Chana said: “Our job is to connect people to the energy supplies they need. This project will help to secure safe and reliable gas supplies to businesses and residents for decades to come.
"We would welcome the opportunity to discuss the plans in more detail with local people at the public drop in next Tuesday and address any queries or concerns they may have.“
If anyone has any queries and cannot make it to the event they can contact National Grid customer services on 0800 096 5678. To find out more about how National Grid replaces gas mains and how that affects residents and businesses go to www.bettergaspipes.co.uk.
