- Halloween treats with toffee apples and a bake-off
- Fancy dress and scary masks winners
National Grid’s Hinckley office today (Friday 30 October) found itself invaded by a horde of ghosts, ghouls and creatures of the night as employees celebrated an early Halloween.
It was business as usual for the national energy network firm but to keep ‘spirits’ up among their colleagues, the team at Hinckley made All Hallows Eve one to remember.
Staff donned their spookiest garb in a bid to claim first prize for the best costume. Others proved a cut above the rest in the hotly contested pumpkin carving competition.
Offices across the site were festooned with cobwebs and spiders and skeletons. An apple bobbing tub proved tricky – and very wet! And there were lots of treats with bake-off cakes, toffee apples and home-made biscuits.
Sally Clay, National Grid organiser, said: "It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves on a normal busy working day. We believe having fun at work creates a healthy environment and builds a closer relationship between leaders, managers and employees. But more importantly, it just makes everyone feel good."
Research has shown that people having fun at work are more innovative, less fearful of change, more productive and better focussed.
