Ingatestone High Street
Start Date: 18th July
Duration: 7 weeks
We are upgrading a gas pipeline in your area.
We are carrying out work to upgrade ageing gas pipes in your area.
Almost 90% of homes in the Ingatestone area have gas central heating.
Some of the gas mains that carries gas to this area have reached the end of their natural operating lives.
We’re replacing the old metallic mains with durable plastic. This will ensure a safe supply long-term and future-proofs the network for the arrival of greener gases like hydrogen.
We will mainly be working in Deepdene, Maltings Chase and High Street.
This work will take place over seven weeks, starting 18th July and ending at the beginning of September. We’ve worked with your Council to plan in this work for school summer holidays when roads are usually that little bit quieter.
Our teams will be working seven days a week.
The work has been designed with six phases and you will find details of each phase on this page.
Replace approximately 112 metres of existing gas pipe on Deepdene.
Replace approximately 51 metres of existing gas pipe on High Street, starting opposite property number 114 and moving down to the junction with Norton Road. This phase will be completed under a road closure.
Replace approximately 61 metres of existing gas pipe on High Street, starting at the junction with Norton Road down to the junction with Post Office Road. This phase will be completed under a road closure.
Replace approximately 22 metres of existing gas pipe on High Street, starting at the junction with Post Office Road down to the junction with Cameron Close. This phase will be completed under a road closure.
Replace approximately 74 metres of existing gas pipe on High Street, starting at the junction with Cameron Close down to the junction with Deepdene. This phase will be completed under a road closure.
Replace approximately 89 metres of existing gas pipe on Maltings Chase. This phase will be completed under multi-way temporary traffic lights.

- Businesses will remain open, but the road closure will stop road access for the following:
- Outside 112 High Street (near The Bell pub) to junction of Deepdene.
- Post Office Road – area will be affected in Phases 3 and 4.
- Doctor’s Surgery / Pharmacist – located within the works area.
