When we are going to do the work
What we’ve listed below is our planned schedule of works. The nature of major engineering work like this means the programme may move and we will update this page if that needs to happen.
You’ll see we start the project on 18th October and plan to complete by February 2022 (but sooner, if we can). At the request of the county council highways team, we will stop work for a couple of weeks during the Christmas period.
We will be working seven days a week and we are taking advice from environmental health officials with regards to acceptable hours of work – there are residential developments near us and our work (at times) is going to be noisy.
Phase 1, starting 18th October 2021 (for around two weeks)
You’ll see us working near the roundabout where Tanterton Hall Road, Tag Lane and Tom Benson Way meet. There will be minimal carriageway incursion during this first phase and traffic will continue to flow in all directions.
Phase 2: during the October half-term holidays
We will be bringing in specialist teams and machinery to drill 100 metres directly under the roundabout at Lightfoot Lane, just after Preston Grasshoppers’ ground (heading towards Preston). This means we can keep the road OPEN, but with traffic lights to manage the flow of vehicles. Please budget for queuing traffic.
Phase 3: starting 1st November (for around a week)
We will install 100 metres of new pipes under a section of Lightfoot Lane, near the junction with The Maples. This will again be done with traffic lights in place, to manage traffic around the work area. Please budget for queuing traffic.
Phase 4: starting around 8th November, to January/February 2022
We will install more than 1,000 metres of new pipes under Lightfoot Lane and Tom Benson Way. We will work in short segments – reinstating the road surface as soon as we have completed each segment. There will be lights to manage the safe flow of vehicles around the work area. Please budget for queuing traffic
