- Cadent staff pledge to raise £100,000 for Alzheimer’s Society
Staff at Hinckley-based gas network Cadent have dug deep and raised more than £2,600 for people living with dementia.
Big-hearted employees whisked up batches of tasty treats and swapped business-wear for casual wear in aid of Alzheimer’s Society. A raffle and a tombola further swelled the charity coffers at the Brick Kiln Street site.
The fundraiser was held on World Alzheimer’s Day (21 September) and the cash raised will go towards supporting people living with dementia and vital research into a cure.
Lorraine Watton, one of the team who organised the fundraiser, said: “We had a fantastic response from our staff. People were really generous and we’ve raised much-needed funds for this worthwhile cause.
“Alzheimer’s Society is Cadent’s chosen charity and we’ve pledged to raise £100,000 over the next two years.
“Someone develops dementia every three minutes. The money we raise will provide vital support services for people with dementia and ultimately help to find a cure for this condition.”
Sinéad Donoghue, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Alzheimer’s Society said:
“We’re thrilled that Cadent marked World Alzheimer’s Day with a range of brilliant fundraisers on behalf of Alzheimer’s Society. From baking up a storm to running a raffle, we really appreciate all the hard work and enthusiasm that the Hinckley staff put in to the day.
“Alzheimer’s Society is here for anyone affected by dementia and we’re so grateful that Cadent have united with us to ensure no-one has to face a diagnosis alone.”
In addition to the fundraising, Cadent is also aiming to make at least 1,000 employees ‘Dementia Friends’. ‘Dementia Friends’ information sessions help people better understand the challenges faced by those living with the condition and the small ways in which they can help.
Alzheimer’s Society provides information and support, funds research and creates lasting change for people affected by dementia. For more information about Alzheimer’s Society go to
