▪ Vital gas mains upgrade starts on Monday 25 July
▪ Work will keep local gas supplies flowing for the rest of the century
▪ Road closure necessary in Low Hill Road
National Grid is starting work on a major gas mains upgrade to help ensure that residents and businesses in Harlow continue to enjoy safe and reliable gas supplies.
From Monday 25 July engineers will renew more than 700 metres of gas mains in Epping Road and Low Hill Road. The work is due to last six weeks.
To carry out the works safely and in the shortest possible time two-way traffic lights will be operating in Epping Road between Roydon Primary School and Low Hill Road. Low Hill Road will also be closed for four weeks. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses in the affected areas at all times. A diversion route will be in place.
National Grid Authorising Engineer Vince Doggett said: “This is a vital project to ensure that the residents and businesses in the Harlow area continue to enjoy a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.
“We have planned the project during the school summer holidays when the roads are quieter and this should minimise disruption for residents and motorists. We would like to thank people for their patience and co-operation.”
