▪ A ‘dressing down’ for the good
▪ The Brain Tumour Charity to benefit
National Grid staff are holding a special fund raising day to support The Brain Tumour Charity.
In a bid to raise as much money as possible employees at the Hinckley site will pay to dress down for the day and wear their casual clothes. The dress-down day is ideal for football fans who will have the chance to sport their team shirts for Euro 2016.
As part of Thursday’s day-long charity event there’ll be a special raffle with prizes that include Leicester Tigers merchandise, a Virgin Experience day and a TV. All the prizes have been donated by staff or local companies.
Matt Bonsell, a National Grid organiser, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to support such a worthwhile cause. Every day 29 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour and every year over 5,000 people lose their lives to a brain tumour. Some of our staff and their families have been touched by this and we wanted to do something practical and positive to help.”
The fundraising efforts will be boosted by a quiz night on 30 June when colleagues can pay £10 to take part.
This is one of the many fund raising events that staff at the national energy network firm organise to support charitable causes. Over the last year, around 3,000 National Grid employees were involved with volunteering, citizenship and fundraising activities with the charities and organisations that the company supports.
