National Grid will soon be replacing a worn-out section of gas pipe on the A57 Dale Street, Liverpool. So that work can be carried out safely and in the shortest possible time, National Grid will be working extended hours, seven days a week.
This essential work will start on 8 August and is expected to last for eight weeks. Work will be take place in Dale Street, between the junctions with Davies Street and Exchange Street East. The work is not expected to need any traffic management but some parking spaces will be suspended.
The metal mains have now reached the end of their working life and need to be renewed. They will be replaced with new hard-wearing plastic pipe which, once in the ground will last for several generations and will need little or no maintenance meaning any future disruption from roadworks will be greatly reduced.
Steve Murray, National Grid’s head of network said: “There is never a good time to carry out Streetworks especially in busy city centre. But, I ask residents, businesses and motorists to bear with us while we carry out this essential work which is needed to make sure residents and traders in the area will continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.”
During the work, residents and traders wanting more information can call the customer helpline on 0114 232 8095. To find out more about how National Grid replaces gas mains and how that affects residents and businesses go to www.bettergaspipes.co.uk.
