• Six week project to improve local gas network
• Work will affect the Sandy Lane and Bury Road area
• Essential work to make sure Rochdale has a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come
National Grid engineers start work on Monday on a six week project to increase the capacity of the local network of gas pipes.
The work will affect Sandy Lane and Bury Road. Starting on Monday 27 June, temporary traffic lights will be in operation on Sandy Lane between 9.30am and 3pm.
From Thursday 7 July, there will be a one way road closure on Sandy Lane which will prevent vehicle access from Bury Road. A diversion route will be signposted.
Stephen Murray, Head of Contract for National Grid said: “We hope that people will be patient with us during our work. We’ll know that this is a busy part of town which is why we’ll only be using temporary traffic lights during the quieter time of day. This will mean that people travelling during peak times shouldn’t be affected
“There will be some disruption in the short-term, but the long-term benefit will be a safe and reliable gas supply for the people of Rochdale for generations to come.”
