Boosting Bedfordshire’s gas supply

A major project to boost the gas supply in Bedfordshire will begin on Monday 21st February. Teams from the UK’s largest gas network, Cadent, will be upgrading a 600 - meter section of pipe that has delivered gas to heat thousands of homes for nearly 60 years.
The reinforcement works will take place on High Street, Potton Road, Station Road and Ivel Road and will allow residents to enjoy safe and reliable gas supplies to heat homes and power businesses for decades to come.
In order to complete our work safely it will be necessary to have temporary traffic management including lane closures, road closure and traffic signals, for the latest updates please view the dedicated page www.cadentgas.com/in-your-area
Work will begin on Monday 21st February with multiway – traffic lights on High Street and Potton Road and these will be in place for the duration of the project, approximately 15 weeks.
On Monday 7th March, Ivel Road will be closed with access to residents only for approximately 7 weeks.
Residents of impacted roads will have received communications from our customer services teams, but if they have any further questions or concerns, they can contact us on 0800 389 8000.
Cadent Authorising Engineer Mark Allsop said: “Our job is to keep people safe and warm. This project is a significant investment to make sure that that local people and businesses can continue to enjoy safe and reliable gas supplies for many decades to come.

“We know that this vital project is likely to cause some disruption. We have worked closely with the local authority to keep this disruption to a minimum and we’d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding.”
