▪ Work is due to start in June
▪ Residents and businesses will continue to enjoy safe and reliable gas supplies
A scheme to upgrade the gas mains in Braintree has been postponed until June due to engineering issues.
Work on the scheme in Manor Road was due to start last week but has now been rescheduled to begin after the Braintree Carnival.
The essential project involves replacing ageing metal gas mains with tough new pipes and will help ensure the local area continues to enjoy safe and reliable gas supplies.
National Grid Authorising Engineer Vince Doggett said: “We’ve had to briefly postpone the project because of engineering difficulties. We’re taking the opportunity to start work after the popular Braintree Carnival so that local residents and visitors can enjoy the event without any disruption. It will also allow business to continue as usual for local shops.”
“We’d like to thank local people for their patience and understanding.”
National Grid will continue to liaise with local residents and businesses to let them know the new date for the start of the work.
